Why am I required to join the YouTube Partner Program?
On the 3rd of December, 2015, YouTube rolled out its new invitation for the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) to all MCN-affiliated channels.
Nothing will change on an operational level. By accepting the terms, you will still be partnered with Freedom! *, you will keep access to the same tools, sponsorships, and benefits you already have as a Freedom! Partner, and Freedom! will still pay you out as per this payment schedule.
* Please note that Freedom! no longer provides MCN services, but if you are looking for MCN specific services, please reach out to our support team at support@freedom.tm and we will check if we can recommend an MCN for you. By signing the YPP, you will be allowed to additional upcoming YPP perks such as revenue sharing on eligible third-party content in your videos (i.e. cover songs). Although this benefit is still in development stage, we will inform you once it’s available to you, the Freedom! partner, as soon as it’s out to the public.
Within a few weeks, all MCN-affiliated are required to join the YPP by agreeing with the terms. To see how to accept the terms, please see George’s video tutorial:
The original deadline to accept the YPP terms was the 1st of April, which has been extended to May 16. Please refer to George's video for more information:
If you live in a country where YPP is available, be sure to accept YPP until May 16, to avoid having your monetization disabled.
If you live in a country where YPP is not available, but you are currently partnered with us, after May 16 you will be able to continue monetizing your videos. However, if you leave the network after that date your monetization will be disabled by YouTube. After that date, only channels that meet the requirements for managed will be able to join Freedom! and activate the monetization on YouTube. How to know if you already accepted YPP
To confirm you accepted the YouTube Partner Program, simply go to your monetization settings and check if your Account Status states: Your account is enabled for monetization. You can monetize videos from your Video Manager.
