Transitioning to other content

Transitioning to other content

As a creator, sometimes you may feel the need to explore opportunities that are linked to other types of content, or just because you are also interested in sharing with your audience what you know about anothe topic, your opinion in a subject or other skills you have. There can be many reasons, but the main reasons why creators may want to change their channel's content are:
  1. They experienced a continued decline in their channel performance.
  2. They feel that their current video content formats aren't suitable.
  3. They want to explore a new creative direction.
Creators also use data to make choices on how to change their content:
  1. Their audience wants to watch other types of content.
  2. The Analytics page says that their other content has more views or more viewer engagement.

SUGGESTIONS OF CONTENT YOU MAY WANT TO TRANSITION TO

Live Streaming
Live streams allow creators to engage with their fans in real time. Your fans are always looking for more ways to interact with you, and live streams are a great way to do that. You can also learn more about the benefits of live streams in this article.

Explore collaboration
Collaborating with other creators with similar kind of content can give you other content ideas that you can then use to create new types of content for your audience.

Use the community posts
As with the live streams, this is another way to engage with your audience, which they will appreciate. You can use this to post content that you don't usually cover in your videos, photos, share opinions about other subjects, make polls, and more. You can learn more about the community tab here.

Express yourself in stories
This type of content is similar to a vlog, but the goal is to share a story with your audience, some kind of event or situation you want to share with them. Stories are also a great way for people to remember you and your content as they feel more connected to you for sharing your experience with them.

OTHER FORMATS OF CONTENT

Characters
Instead of being themselves, some creators choose to create characters, acting as if they were someone else, and even dressing up to become someone totally different. Once your idea for the character is done, you can create many types of content around that character, even vlogs and interviews to make that character stronger.

Topic based videos
These are generally videos where the topic can be anything, but changes from video to video. In one you may be talking about babies and in the next you could be talking about politics. However, you need to make sure you are sensitive to your audience. Try to find out what kind of topics are of their interested in so you don't create content that will drive them out of your channel.

Narrative series
These are usually scripted videos. If you have a funny person, you can try creating comedy skits. If you have great acting skills you can try to recreate your favorite characters and scenes from movies. As an example, you can check out RocketJump's Video Game High School series.

Making a content transition may not be an easy task if you started out your channel and built a following with content on a very specific topic. Before making any changes, we suggest that you take a look at your Analytics and ask your audience what other types of content/formats they would like to see. This will help you get a better understanding on what direction to go.
