If your curious about your chances of getting your videos in the Trending tab for additional exposure, below you will find some of the information that YouTube considers to make up the list of videos on display.
When is the list updated?
The list is updated every 15 minutes, and position of the videos in the list may change.
What kind of content is usually selected?
- Appeals to a wide range of viewers
- Is usually surprising or novel
- Captures the breadth of what’s happening on YouTube and in the world
What kind of content is usually not on display?
Clickbate, sensationalist or misleading content and content that may not comply with YouTube guidelines and policies.
How does YouTube select the videos?
Here are some of the things YouTube considers to select a video for the Trending tab:
- View count
- The rate of growth in views
- Where views are coming from (including outside of YouTube)
- The age of the video
This means that a high amount of views alone does not rank a video higher.
My video fits the criteria but it's not featured on the Trending tab, why?
Videos may still not show up even if they meet the criteria because there may be many others in the same position, so the choice may come down to be the videos that are more relevant to the viewers and most reflective of the broad content on the platform.
