YouTube announced Reels. This feature is YouTube’s spin on the popular “stories” format, which is already used in Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, and other platforms. However, unlike the others, creators will be able to make multiple Reels and they will not expire after a period of time. In addition, Reels will allow creators to link YouTube videos and use YouTube-y stickers, filters, text and music in short, up to 30 second, videos.
The idea behind Reels is to give creators another format to express themselves and engage with their public without having to post a full video. Reels will appear as a new tab in the creator's channel, just like the recently added Community tab.
The feature is currently in beta, and because of that, only available to a select few creators. YouTube will be opening up this feature gradually to more users at a later date.
